AKA AKA IMPROVEMENTS.
WIDENING EASTERN DRAIN. [from our own coßßEsroNm:i\'T. ] WAIUKU, Tuesday. The widening arid deepening of (lie eastern drain on 1 lie Aka Aka plains for over a milo at the top end is proposed by the Aka Aka Drainage Board. The new width is to bo 12tt. and the new depth between sft. and 6ft,, involving the removal of over 4000 yds. of spoil. Tenders for tho work, the cost of which the Government has agreed to subsidise, close on Thursday, October 8. Spoil from the drain is to bo used in tho formation of the eastern drain road, giving a summer route between Aka Aka and Pukekohc somewhat shorter than tho main road.
