TOLL FOR VEHICLES.
SYDNEY HARBOUR BRIDGE. HUGE COST OF STRUCTURE. (Received September IS. 12.23 a.m.) SYDNEY. Sept. 17. The committee which was appointed by the Government to inquire into the desirability of imposing a vehicle toll on the Sydney Harbour Bridge recommends in the affirmative. It points out that whereas tho original estimate of the cost of the bridge was £5,750,000, the present estimate exceeds £9,000,000. 'lhe committee recommends that pedestrians should not pay a toll.
