AVONDALE SCHOOL.
NEW HEADMASTER WELCOMED A social to welcome Mr. G. R. Jones, who has been appointed headmaster of the Avondalo school, was held in St. .Tude's Hall, on Wednesday, and was attended by a large number of parents of tlio children and other interested friends. Mr. H. A. V. Bollard, chairman of the local School Committee, extended a hearty welcome to Mr. Jones, supplemented by similar remarks by Mr. TL A. Harrison, secretary to the committee, and Mr. IT. P. Burton. Mr. Jones expressed his appreciation of the cordial reception given to him, and apologised for the absence of his wife and family. Mrs. P. Richardson, a member of the School Committee, presented a bouquet for Mrs. Jones and a box of chocolates for each of tho three children. A musical programme was contributed by the following:—Mrs. Timmings, Mr. Jessop, Miss Scott, Mr. A. Barnes, and Miss Jajnes, who sang, and Mrs. Wilson, who gave a recitation. Mrs. H. A. V. Bollard played the accompaniments.
