THE AVON CIRCLE.
AN EVENING OF DRAMA. The Avon Circle met, at, the home of the president, Mrs. Helen Griffiths, Mount Eden, on Wednesday evening, when "An Evening of Drama " was presented. "Brother Wolf," a play by Laurence Ilousman, was well read by the Misses K. Teape, D. Messer, M. Brown, M. Haresnape, R. Kirkbride and M. Kemble. "The Beau of Bath," a charming episode in the life of the famous English dandy, Beau Nash, was contributed by Mrs. Helen Griffiths. "Legend," a weird tale of the sea, was read by '.lie Misses L. Rosovcare, li. Arniitago, H. Morterisen and M. Kemble. A quaint Dickens sketch, "Coppei field and the Waiter," was portrayed by the. Misses M. Matthews, M. Pendcrgrast and Eileen West ray. Miss Madge Home acted a powerful playlet entitled "Snowstorm." Vocal solos, "Rain" and "The Little Mandarin," were sung by Miss Myrtle Burns, and Miss M. Haresnape played pianoforte selections. Those present included : —Mrs. Helen flrifiiths, president; Mrs. M. Matthews, Mrs. J. West ray, and the Misses D. Messer, K. Teape, L. Hoscveare, L. Armitngc, M. Kemble, D. Mortensen, M. Burns, M. Haresnape, V. Robinson, R. Kirkbride, M. Brown, M. Horne, M. Pendcrgrast, A. Lauson, E. West ray and B. Medwin.
