HERALD'S SPECIALeFORECAST. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. This disUibution of pressure indicates temporarily fair to fine weather ruling in most districts, followed by a renewal of unsettled conditions. Scattered showers likely in places near tho west coast. South-westerly winds, moderate to strong, veoring to north-west, then freshening. Fairly rough seas on tho west coast, particularly southward from Cape Egmont: mainly moderate seas on other coasts, although rough in the Bay of Plenty. Local outlook: Fair to cloudy, with a tendency for an occasional shower. Temperatures will bocome milder. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.051n. Midnight, Wednesday .. 29.85 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, GOdeg.; Minimum, 50deg. * GOVERNMENT REPORT. Indications are for south-westerly winds north of New Plymouth and Nap:cr, still strong about East Cape, but otherwise moderate, elsewhere moderate but freshening westerly to northerly. Seas rough on tho west coast of the North Island and considerable swell between Cape Palliser and East Cape, but decreasing elsewhere to moderate seas.
