CHEAPER TRAIN TRAVEL.
EFFECT ON SUBURBAN LINES. SEASON TICKETS UNCHANGED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. According to advice received from the Railway Department, there will be practically no alteration in suburban season ticket fares under the reduction announced by the Railways Board. The board lias decided upon a reduction from Sunday next of 20 per cent, in ordinary single ticket fares and to institute liolidav excursion rates (equivalent to a reduction of rather more than 20 per cent, on ordinary fares) for return tickets. Apparently there will be no reduction in charges for season tickets for suburban lines, but concession tickets, for which the charge is based on ordinary fares, will be affected. Intermediate travellers between any stations in these areas will gain the benefit of the new scale of charges.
