FAMILY TRAGEDY.
MAN AND BOY DROWNED. STARVING DOG'S ORDEAL. (Received September 11, 9.55 p.m.) SYDNEY. Sept. 14. A tragic affair is reported from Hay, 450 miles south-west of Sydney. The bodies of William Bashkell and his eight-year-old son were discovered in the Murrumbidgee River and an upturned boat was found some distance away. The police now aie searching for Mrs. Bashkell's body. The three were rowing across the flooded river on August 17, when apparently the boat capsized. A dog in the last stages of starvation was also discovered at Bashkell's camp at the side of the river, but several ducks and a pet parrot were all dead at the camp. The dog was the only animal that survived tho terrible ordeal in spite of the fact that it was. chained to a stake.
