HALL FOR WRESTLING.
LEASE TO BE DISCUSSED. RUMOUR OF CITY COUNCIL BAN. [BY TELEGRAFH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH, Mouday. It is understood that the question of tho lease of the Municipal Concert Hall, or Civic Theatre, as it is also called, for wrestling bouts was discussed at the meeting of the By-laws Committee of the City Council to-day. It is stated that one or two members of the council attended the bout between Burmister and Marshall last Monday evening after tho council meeting had concluded and were not highly impressed by what they saw in tho way of tactics. These members, it is understood, propose to take steps to have a ban placed on wrestling in tho Civic Theatre. The police took no exception to the contest lust Monday evening. Those interested in wrestling will probably bo called before the committee to state their case and possibly will call witnesses in defence of the exhibitions staged. Burmister roused the ire of tho crowd last Monday by what looked like a kick to Marshall's solar plexus. It is stated that this may have been a gesture of defence, Marshall unfortunately running on to tho protruding foot, but those present expressed their disapproval in no uncertain manner
