CITY AND THE BUDGET.
REACTION ON STERLING. BANKERS EXPRESS FEARS. LONDON. Sept, 13. The financial editor of the Sun states that, beyond a slight strengthening of British funds, the Stock Exchange so far has practically not been affected by the proposals in the Budget. It is recognised that the Budget does nothing to assist an industrial revival, and therefore, pending more constructive and more progressive proposals with a view to rectifying the trade balance, quotations are unlikely to show marked rises. Although there is no notable adverse movement in the pound sterling, many foreign and some British bankers are gravely of opinion that it may bo difficult to hold sterling next week.
