THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. SMALL' VOLUME OF BUSINESS. A small volume of business was done on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, There was an easing tendency in Government stocks, but the market was firm for 1937 5' z per cent, bonds, which changed hands 2s 6d firmer at £95 12s 6d. Inscribed Stock, 1937, per cent., eased slightly and were done at £95 17s 6(1. The banking section showed a sligh! improvement on Saturday's levels, and there was a greater disposition to quote on the part of holders. Commercials of Australia wero done twice at 12s lid, and more were sought at 12s 9d, holders continuing to ask 13s. A recovery was shown by New Zealands, two sales taking placo at 425, an advance of 3d on Saturday's levels, while more were sought at 41s 9d. In insurance New Zealands were quoted 9d firmer at 38s 3d. In response to inquiry at 50s, holders of South British eased slightly to 50s 9d. Inquiry in other sections was practically unchanged, the only business done being a transaction in Auckland Gas, which were released a penny easier at 235. Holders of New Zealand Breweries quoted a penny easier at 28s lid. There was practically no movement in the miscellaneous section, and inquiry was dull. The ordinary issue of Farmers' Trading Company were quoted 2d firmer at 5s lid. The mining section was quiet. Waihis wero done at 15s 7d, but further inquiry remained at last week's levels. There was a firmer inquiry for King Solomons, which were quoted at 2s lOd, but an offer of 2s 7d at the afternoon call failed to attract sellers.

A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. The Wellington Cordage Company, Limited, made a "profit of £431 for the year ended July 31. Out of this losses on the two previous years' trading totalling £269 have been paid, leaving a credit balance of £162. No dividend is to be paid.
