HAVOC IN BRITISH HONDURAS.

A hurricane of exceptional severity struck the Caribbean sca on Thursday night. Moving westward it wrought terrible havoc in British Honduras. The capital, Belize, is reported to be in ruins, with practically all the houses damaged and many of the business buildings razed to the ground. The latest report states that more than 1000 people were killed and the death roll is not complete. Relief has been urgently requested. , The authorities are seriously contemplating removing the people from the present site of the town to a ridge on higher ground. West Indian areas were struck by the hurricane and great damage caused at Santo Domingo and Porto Rico. The hurricane also swept the south of lower California,, which is part of Mexico. The storm was growing in intensity when this news was, despatched.
