LAWN TENNIS.

SEASON AT CAMPBELL PARK. That a successful season had been-ex-perienced, both from a playing and financial point of view, was shown by the report and balance-sheet presented at the annual meeting of the Campbell Park Lawn Tennis Club. The report stated that the membership included 152 playing members and 25 winter members. In the inter-club competition a team was entered ior the first time in the A grade competition and teams were also entered in the B. C and D grades. The D grade won the hard-court section. In the past two seasons £lßl- had been spent on resurfacing the courts whicn were _ now m* splendid condition. Several other improvements were carried out during the year. The season closed with a cash balance in hand of £123. , , The election of officers resulted:—President, Mr. B. S. Barry; club captain. Mr. J Rukutai; hon. secretary, Mr. A. Porter: hon. treasurer, Mr. D. G. Alfrey; committee. Mrs. M. Brough, Miss Brown. Messrs. J. C. Andrews, Val Barfoot, P. T. Jones and T. Rukutai; ladies' committee. Mesdames Alfrey, Barry, Brough. Marshall and Miss Brown: hon. auditor, Mr. W. C. Worrall. It was decided to open the 6eason on October 11. - Cups and trophies were presented to the winners of the club's chief competitions as follows:—Men's singles championship, P. T. Jones; ladies' singles. Miss Rukutai; man's doubles, Andrews and Barfoot; ladies' doubles. Misses Bull and Douglas: mixed doubles. Sheen and Miss Douglas; men'* B : grade singles, -J. D. Brown; ladies' B grade singles, Mrs. Marshall: winter tournament, Sheen and Miss Dougla3. GRAMMAR CLUB'S YEAR. The report and balance-sheet presented at the annual meeting of the Gnmmar Lawn Tennis Club showed that the past year had been a very successful one from all points of view and the club was looking forward to an equally successful season _ this _ year. Special attention had been paid to junior members in the past and this would be. a feature of the coming season. Negotiations were being made for the View Road courts, and it was hoped to open the season on the third Saturday in October. PUKEROA CLUB S SEASON. Congratulations on the sound financial position of the club were expressed by the president, Mr. C. S. Lees, at the annual meeting of the Pukeroa Lawn Tennis Clnb.x The following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr. H. McCoy; president, Mr. C. -S, Lees: vice-presidents. Messrs. J. Pascoe, A. W. Brewin, E. Jones: captain, Mr. T. Heard; vice-captain. Mr. H. J. Barrett. It was decided to hold opening dsy on October 10. MAUNGATAPERE CLUB. [from our own correspondent.] WHANGAREI, Saturday. Thero was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Maungatapere Lawn Tennis Club, which was presided over by Mr. A. J. Dickson. Thft balance-sheet showed a small credit balance. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr. A. J. Dickson; vice-president. Mr. D. Q. Fraser; hbn. secretary,' Mr. W. Morrison; committee, Messrs. A. Stewart and R- S. Berridge; delegate to North Auckland Association, Mr. R. S. Berridge: delegates to Whangarei sub-asaociation, Messrs. A.- J. Dickson and W. Morrison; club captain. Mr. Berridge: ladies' committee. Misses M. and R. Keynolds and M. Morrison. The date for the official opening. was fixed for September 26.
