OBITUARY.
CANON A. P. CLARKE. The death has occurred at Napier of Canon Alfred Pickering Clarke, aged 71. Canon Clarke was educated at Bishopdale College, Nelson, and took the degree of Licentiate of Theology, University of New Zealand, in 1882. He was ordained in 1834 and in 1886 was appointed a priest at Nelson, in which district and the Collingwood district he did great work. In 1893 he was appointed vicar of All Saints' Church, Taradale, Hawke's Bay, a post he held for 32 years. Canon Clarke was greatly interested in and worked actively for the Church Missionary Society, and ono of his daughters married Mr. Donald Haultain, a missionary of the society, and with him went to Nairobi, East Africa. Canon Clarke was a keen cricketer and took an active interest in the game until a few years before his death. Mrs. Clarke died last year. MR. M. D. MENELAUS. The death has occurred of Mr. Matthew Dougall Menelaus, aged 73 years, one of the best-known members of the Presbyterian Church in Wellington, and session clerk of St. John's Church.
