The fast combined work of the Somerville forward line proved superior to University s defence and the students lost the game by 4 goals to 6. As the score indicates it was a forward game, neither side's defence being of much avail against the opposing onslaughts. The game opened at. a fast pace. University reaching the circle in the first minute. A close tussle ensued, and from a corner Bay shot, Rutler saved, but Bestic followed in and scored. Somerville attacked again immediately and C. Watts again scored at the close of a combined forward rush. Rather aimless play ensued for some minutes, neither side getting dangerously near the *oal3. A free hit taken by Chambers and carried on by Bay nearly resulted in a score for the students, but Butler saved cleverly. A period of strenuous defence by University was relieved when Lamb and A. Broun broke away down the field. The attack did not produce any result and a fewmoments later E. Watts returned play to the students' circle in a fast run. His shot was deflected by Green. Cole secured the rebound, but his shot went far too high. Somerville was keeping the students on the defensive and finally, from close play. E. Watts gained Somerville's third goal. Watts, securing a rebound from C. Watts' shot, netted Somerville's fourth goa! before the goalkeeper could get back into position. Be'tic took play to the other end of tho field, but hit the ball over the back line. Bay returned to the attack, the chance being lost when Taylor, in shooting, gave "sticks."
