MILLIONAIRE'S WILL.
MR. SOLLY JOEL'S FORTUNE. DETAILS OF BEQUESTS. According to details of his will the late Mr. Solly Joel left property provisionally valued at £1,000,000, "so far as ascortainod." He leaves a life annuity of £IBOO, tax free, to his daughter, Mrs. Doris Irene Kathleen Walter, after whom ho named his yacht and then changed the name following her marriage. To his brother, Mr. Jack Barnato Joel, he bequeaths £20,000 with the request that " if he shall not require the same for his personal use " he shall devote it to South African charities. His stock of cigars lie divides between his two sons, Dudley Jack Barnato Joel and Stanhope Henry Joel. Explaining the absence in his will of any charitable dispositions Mr. Joel points out that he has made numerous gifts to charity in his lifetime and says he does not feel called upon to make any further such gifts " in view of the heavy duties now payable upon death.'' A legacy of £3OOO is left to Mr. Frederick Low n Johnson, Mr. Joel's confidential secretary, while each employee in the service of himself or of his firm, Barnato Bros., is given a year's wages if of five years' servico, or six months' wages if of between two and five years' service. In addition, each indoor servant of 10 years' service is to receive £IOO.
Kathleen Phoebe, Duchess de Laurino, Mr. Joel's step-daughter, as in the case of Mrs. Walter, receives a life annuity of £IBOO tax free, while the residue of the estate is left, as to two-fifths for each of his two sons and one-fifth for the bonefit of his daughter, Miss Eileen Daphne Solna Joel.
