WEDDINGS.

CAVE—GARDNER. The marriage took place recently in Gisborne of Miss Joan Gardner, youngest daughter of Mr. J. Gardner and Mrs. Gardner, of Awatea, Hexton, to Mr. Hugh Ernest Cave, second son of Mr. C. J. T. Cave and Mrs. Cave, of Stonerhill, Petersfield, England. The ceremony took place outside in the garden of the bride's home against a background of native shrubs, fern trees and flowering shrubs, the bride wearing a frock of parchment satin beautc cut on princess lines and widening into a train. Her tulle veil of the same shade was caught to the head with a satin band, a tiny spray of real orange blossom holding it at one side. An heirloom diamond brooch, a gift from the bridegroom's mother, was also worn and she carried a bouquet of cream roses, cyclamen, begonia, orchids and fern. The five bridesmaids were Misses Tui Gardner, sister of the bride, Dorothy Cave (England), sister of the bridegroom, filoden Nelson (Hawke's Bay), Trixie Monckton (Hamilton) and E. Thomas. Their frocks were of parchment flat crepe with cowl backs and flared skirts with hip-yokes. Hats of cherry-coloured summer felt, were also worn and gaged parchment tinted georgette muffs embroidered with a cluster of cherry flowers were carried. Mr. Andrew Russell was best man. Following the ceremony close upon 300 guests were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Gardner at the reception which followed.

LA NIG AN—K A LAUGI \ ER. At, All Souls' Church, Dcvonport, on August 26, the marriage was celebrated of Miss Marjoric Kalaugher, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Kalaugher, of Stanley Bay, and Mr. Thomas James Lanigan, of Auckland. The Right Rev. Dr. Liston, Bishop of Auckland, assisted by the Rev. Father Furlong, performed the ceremony, and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Tho full choir sang the Mass, and the "Wedding March" was played by Miss Maureen O'Brien. Mr. V. J. Cooke sang the offertory. Tlio bride, who entered tho church with her father, wore a frock of ivory georgette appliqued with ring velvet and motifs of silver and diamante. Tho veil of Brussels lace, lent by Mrs. R. TJ. Macaulcy, was arranged in coronet fashion. She carried a sheaf of lilies and white hyacinths. Miss Dorcon Kalaugher, tho chief bridesmaid, wore a sleeveless frock of rose pink georgette flowered in green and blue, with small coatee to match. Her hat was of green Baku straw, and her bouquet was of daffodils and sweet peas. Three small nieces of the bride and bridegroom wore period frocks of frilled taffeta in tones of tho chief bridesmaid's frock, Patricia Quinn in rose pink, Patricia Hudner in powder blue, and Dorothea McQuilkin in applo green. Each carried a Victorian posy to match. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. V. J. Cooke as best man A reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents, Mrs. Kalaugher receiving in burgundy georgette and lace.
