THE CITY MARKETS. YESTERDAY'S AUCTIONS. LEMONS EASIER IN VALUE. The improved for Deliciona apples was maintained at yesterday's auctions at the Auckland City Markets. Cooking apples continued to be in short supply and brought higher prices. Oranges sold readily, Australian Navels realising s considerably higher values. Poorman oranges were very dull of sale, while there was only a fair inquiry for, mandarines. Ripe bananas met with a keener response. Larger stocks of lemons are coming forward and the prices, which showed an increase earlier in the week, were correspondingly lower. The field produce market was overstocked with cabbage and cauliflower, while there were plentiful supplies of potatoes and celery. Fair offerings of new potatoes brought Id to 2?d a lb. Kumaras were scarce and commanded 16s to 18s per cwt. Australian green peas fetched 9d to 10^d a lb., cucumbers, 12s to 14s a case, and vegetable marrows, 18s 6d a case.
