STATEMENT BY BRADMAN

CONTRACT NOT YET SIGNED. RESENTMENT OF CRITICISM. (Received Eleptembgr 3, 8.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 8. Don Bradman states definitely that he has not yet signed a contract with the Accrington Cricket Club, Lancashire. He resents criticism from overseas, and says it will be quito time enough to comment when he accepts. In the meantime he has not accepted any offer from anybody. Mr. Arthur Mailey, writing in the Sun, describes Bradman as a great drawing card. He is quite sure he will not leave Australia without the leave of the Board of Cricket Control. At the same time cricketers of Bradman's type must be given sufficient encouragement to remain in Australia. LIMITED ENGAGEMENT. 20 WEEKS IN LANCASHIRE. (Received (September 3, 8.45 p.m.) LONDON. Sept. 3. Mr. Crawshaw', chairman of the Accrington Cricket Club's committee, says Don Bradman intimated in the overtures in connection with his engagement that it must be limited to 20 weeks. He therefore will be übsenfc for about half the year. This would not prevent him from representing Australia. His intimation that he would go to Australia at the end of the season should be conclusive that he did not intend to qualify for Lancashire.
