MOTOR-TRUCK WRECKED.

DRIVER'S LUCKY ESCAPE. CRASH INTO REPAIR WAGGON. A remarkable escape from injury was experienced early last evening by Mr. I. Hutchinson, of 17, Vincent Avenue, Remuera, when a light motor-truck which he was driving along Remuera Road crashed into an Auckland Transport Board repair truck and was completely wrecked. The driver was thrown on to the concrete road pnd escaped with a sprained thumb. Mr. Hutchinson was driving toward Remuera, near King's School, and swerved to avoid an overhead wire repair waggon which was standing between the rails and the kerb. A second waggon was parked on the rails a short distance ahead and Mr. Hutchinson was not able to avoid striking it.

The light truck was wedged under the waggon and considerable difficulty was experienced in removing the truck, a tow rope having to bj attached ttf the other waggon. The front portion of the truck was crushed out of recognition, the framework round the broken windscreen being smashed, while the carburettor was torn off the engine The damage to the repair waggon was confined to a rear tail light. The waggons were engaged in restoring a broken overhead wire which interrupted the tram services. Further delay was caused by the accident and there was a long line of tramcars along Remuera Road until the vehicles were separated.
