WILLIAMS DEFEATS FERRIER.

SYDNEY, Sept. 2. The semi-finals of fhc amateur and professional golf championships were played ,it Kensington links, Sydney, to-day iri splendid weather. ■ ■* The boy champions, Williams and Ferrier, engaged in a gruelling contest. The Victorian, Williams, triumphed over the New South Wales youth by 1 up. Ferric? missed too many putts, and was 4 down at the end of tlio morning round. Williams was superb. Ho hit with great power and confidence, ami was much, superior in'his iron stjokes. Ferrier made a great and thrilling recovery, but missed a putt of 3ft. on the last green to square the mfttch. In the other amateur semi-finals G. Thompson beat S. Iveane, 8 up and 7. In the professional semi-finals Spence beat Howard, 1 up, and Bolger beat Cohen (Queensland); 2 up.
