DEPOSITS IN BANK.
ALLEGATION IN ASSEMBLY. MINISTER TO OBTAIN REPORT. (Received September 1, 8.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 1. In the New South Wales Assembly to-day Mr. R. J. Stuart-Robert-son, Labour member for Annandale, directed . attention to the statement that tho Primary Producers' Bank, which failed last week, had accepted deposits from small traders up to 2 p.m. on the day it had been closed. He described this as; a confidence trick. The Minister of Justice, Mr. J. Laraaro, replied that he would call for a report and then see whether action could bo taken. STATE SAYINGS BANK. 'REOPENING NEXT MONDAY. APPOINTMENT OF MANAGER. SYDNEY, Sept 1. The State Savings Bank will be reopened next Monday. Mr. D. H. Hall, who was president of the bank at the time of its closing, will carry out the duties of general manager. According to an official announcement, the commissioners have power to negotiate with the Commonwealth Bank with regard to tho question of absorption, if that course is deemed necessary.
