CHARITY STAMPS APPEAL.
CHILDREN'S HEALTH GAWPS. ANOTHER CAMPAIGN THIS YEAR, / [BY TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL REPORTER.] ■WELLINGTON. Tuesday. Although the previous campiign wai not a great success, it is proposed to make a further appeal this year by charity stamps, the purpose of the appeal being the establishment of permanent bases throughout New Zealand for health camps for ill-nourished and debilitated children and children who are contacts of tuber- , culosis in their own homes. Last year the gross receipt!? of th» appeal were £1730. The small responso is attributed by the Post and Telegraph Department report, presented to Parliament this evening, to the financial dspression and to a less extent to the dasign of the stamp being practically a replica of that of the previous year. A new design had been ordered from Ergland, but an unexpected difficulty exparienced in engraving prevented tht stamp reaching New Zealand in time for the launching of the campaign.
