TARANAKI LEAVES LONDON. The Shaw, Savill and Albion motor-ship Taranaki left London on Saturday for Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, Bluff and Nelson. She is due at Lyttelton about October 1. MAKURA AT SAN FRANCISCO. The Eoval Mail liner Makura arrived at San Francisco from Wellington on Friday. The vessel is to sail on Wednesday on her return voyage to Wellington and Sydney, via Papeete and Rarotonga. She is scheduled to reach Wellington on September 21. THE CANADIAN CRUISER. The Canadian National steamer Canadian Cruiser is scheduled to clear Montreal on September 26 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Australia. She is due at Auckland about November 5. RANGITIKI LEAVES SOUTHAMPTON. Tho New Zealand Shipping Company's motor-liner Rangitiki cleared Southampton on Friday with passengers and mail for New Zealand and cargo for discharge at Auckland and Wellington. She is due at Auckland on October 1.

THE R.M.M.S. AORANGI. In continuation of her voyage from Vancouver to Suva. Auckland and Sydney, the Royal Mail liner Aorangi cleared Honolulu on Wednesday. The vessel is due at Suva on Thursday and at Auckland on Sunday. She is to leave Auckland for Sydney at five o'clock next Monday evening. THE BULLAREN. Spedding. Limited, have received advice that the Swedish motor-ship Bullaren is scheduled to leave Vancouver on September 3. San Francisco on September 16 and Los Angeles on September 19 for Auckland. Wellington and Australia. She is due at Auckland on October 13. NORTHERN LIGHT SAILED. After being in for five days the American yacht Northern Light, which is on an extended cruise of tho Pacific, left Auckland for Lyttelton late on Saturday night. From Lyttelton the yacht will proceed to Dunedin and thence to England, via Australia and Eastern ports. THE MAUNGANUI. The Maunganui arrived at Sydney from San Francisco, via Wellington, on Saturday morning. The vessel is to resume in the intercolonial service and she is to leave Sydney for Auckland and Wellington on Friday. THE VENTURA. The Matson Line steamer Ventura arrived from Sydney on Saturday morning with 43 passengers and a quantity of mail for Auckland. After loading cargo and mail and embarking seven passengers from New Zealand she resumed her voyage to San Francisco, via Suva, Pago Pago and Honolulu, in tho evening. THE GOLDEN CROSS. The American steamer Golden Cross arrived from Los Angeles on Saturday morning and berthed at King's Wharf to unload 1000 tons of general cargo and case oil from Pacific Coast ports for Auckland. This afternoon tho vessel is to resume her voyage to Wellington. Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Australia, to complete discharge of the remainder of the cargo, which includes about 2,000,000 ft. of lumber for Australia. The cargo was loaded at Vancouver, New Westminster. Aberdeen, Coos Bay, San Francisco and Los Angeles. She sailed from Los Angeles on August 1. A succession of gales with the wind from the west and south-west experienced during tho last five days of the voyage delayed her arrival at Auckland. Captain W. E. CHIEF ENGINEER'S RECORD. Mr. J. Ferguson, chief engineer of- the Shaw, SaviH and Albion Company's motorship Karamea, which is now at Timaru, is the second senior engineer of the company, Mr. Naismith, of the linei Tainui, being; the senior. Mr. Naismith has only held the senior position since the retirement of Mr. Geo. Arthur in June. Mr. Ferguson has the distinction of being the first chief engineer of the Kia Ora, Rangitira, Mahana, Mamari, Matakana and Karamea. He superintended in the construction of the Raranga, Matakana and the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's four latest motor-ships. Zealandic, Taranaki, Coptic and Karamea. Mr. Ferguson was on the Rangitira when she took the Fifth Contingent of New Zealand troops to South Africa in 1889. Mr. Arthur had forty years' service a's a chief engineer at the time of his retirement. He saw service with the original Arawa. Tainui and Maori. Other vessels in which he had charge cf the engine-room were the Mamari, Pakeha., Waimana, Mahana, Maixnoa and Tainui.

THE MONOWAI. "With 172 passengers, as well as mail and cargo, the Monowai was despatched for Sydney on Saturday morning. After the vessel arrives at Sydney to-morrow she will resume in the Pacific mail service and leave Sydney for Wellington, Rarotonga, Papeete and San Francisco on Thursday. MOTOR VESSEL TIRI. A. G. Frankhcm, Limited, have received advice that the new motor vessel Tiri reached Norfolk Island on Friday morning and sailed in the afternoon on lier return trip to Auckland. The vessel is expected to arrive to-day and she will berth at King's Wharf. ANTIGONE FROM JAVA. The steamer Antigone is scheduled to arrive from Java on Friday with a raw sugar cargo which -vjrill be unloaded at Chelsea. After discharge she is to proceed to Makatea Jslund to load a phosphate cargo for Australia or New Zealand. ' . NARBADA REPORTS. Wireless advice received from the Union Company's Indian trader Narbada states that she will reach Auckland next Friday. The vessel is from Calcutta, Penang, Singapore and Samarang with Eastern produce for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff, THE TONGARIRO. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Tongariro is scheduled to arrive from Liverpool on Wednesday with general merchandise from West Coast ports of Britain for discharge at Auckland, Napier. Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin.

TOFUA DUE 1 P.M. The Tofua has reported by wireless that she will arrive from Suva at one o'clock this afternoon. She will berth at Queen s Wharf to land passengers, mail and cargo from Tonga, Samoa and Fiji. THE HERMINIUS. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Herminius is scheduled to leave Dunedin for New Plymouth to-day to complete discharging general cargo from Liverpool and Glasgow and to commence loading for ner homeward voyage. The vessels loading ports are New Plymouth, Lyttelton. liniaru, Wellington and Auckland. She is due at Auckland on September 19 and is to bo despatched for London, via Panama, September 24.
