THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. [kroii our owsr correspondent.} i » POKENO, Saturday. The Pokeno Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner last evening in th® Pokeno Hall. There was a large attendance. Those present included Mr. W. WrMassey, M.P. for the''district, and representatives of other chambers of commerce, local bodies and district organisations in the territory from Otahuhu to Kaiaua. In his report covering tie past year, the president, Mr. C. J. Leatham, mentioned that matters which the chamber had been endeavouring to forward, and which it hoped to see shortly brought to a successful conclusion, included the permanent surfacing of the Great South Road from'Papakura to Mercer, the openingof the new road from Pokeno to Whangarata, and the provision of cattle stops at' the level crossing at the Pokeno railway, yards. ■ ' . i Mr. G.
