STOCKS AND SHARES.

THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. BUSINESS IN MINING. Mining shares were the most active investments on the Auckland Stock Exchange at the single call on Saturday morning. All other lines quoted wero available at easier levels with the exception of 1958, 4£ per cent., tax-free Inscribed Stock for which' £97 10s was asked.

Banks were quiet and fewer supplies wero offering. Bank of New Zealands steadied and changed hands again at 445, which price was offered for more. Sellers asked 44s 6d. Levels in other sections were much on the same basis as those prevailing on the previous day. New Zealand Breweries again moved favourably, buyers lifting their offers 5d to 28s 5d and sellers advanced 3d to 29s 3d. Firm rates were maintained in mining. Two parcels of King Solomons changed hands unaltered at 3s. Cornish Points wore taken again at 7Jjd. Waihis made a current-price sale at 15s 6d and Grand Junctions were secured at 3s 9d and 3s lOd.
