AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. RUDGE DEFEATS RANDRUP. The third game in tho second round of •fne Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship for the Billiards, Limited, Shield, was played at Messrs Billiards, Limited, showrooms on Saturday evening. The / contestants were H. Randrup and I. Rudge. Randrup, at his fourth visit to the table, registered an all-round break of 55. the highest- to dat£ in this event. Rudge, his youthful opponent, took a little longer to settle down, but scored quickly and confidently in making a 26 and two minor breaks soon after, and was even with his

opponent at 134 all. Randrup soon got going again and ran up to 26 before failing.

Rudge. who showed a preference for losing hazard play, excelled in a splendidlvplnyed break of 53 by this method. He led at 200 to 175. , Randrup, by all-round play, made a run of 29 and evened the scores once again. Rudge increased his lead slightly over the next hundred points and led by 321 to 274. A break of 31 by Randrup followed. His opponent, however, then ran up to 40 bofore failing. Both players scored consistently, and Rudge added breaks of 23 and 520 to his score and finallv ran to points with an unfinished break of 21. The final scbres were:—J. Rudge, 500; breaks of 20, 53. 40, 23. 20 and 21 unfinished. H. Randrup,' 417; breaks of 55. 26, 29 and 31. H. A. Massey will play L. S. Holdsworth this evening.

/KING COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS. [from our. own correspondent.] TAUMARUNUI, Saturday. The King Country amateur billiards championship which is' being played at present ItaH reached the sc ni-final stage. The first semi-final was played last evening, when McLay beat Dahb by 349 points. McLay luayed consistently, ortiy occasionally visiting the table without scoring, and at the 400 mark was over 250 ahead.
