disorderly behaviour. THREE MEN SENT TO PRISON. Three men, Albert Edward Kale, aged 23, packer, Edward Collins, aged 38, labourer, and Johg Clarke, aged 22, labourer, were jointly charged in the Police Court yesterday with being dis- ' orderly while drunk, with resisting a constable, with using obscene language and with committing mischief by wilfully damaging a taxi-cab to the extent of 10s. Kale and Clarke were also charged with obstructing a constable in the execution of hi 3 duty, and Kale was separately charged with failing to comply with the terms and conditions of his release on probation. Accused, who were represented by Mr. Noble, pleaded not guilty.
Constable Stewart- said that at 3.45 p.m. on Saturday he saw accused behaving in a disorderly maimer in Karangahape PiOad. "When witness arrested Collins on a charge of drunkenness the other accused took hold of witness by the arms and forced him to let doliins go. Witness rearrested Collins and was again obstructed by Kale and Clarke. With the assistance of a passer by and Constable Wilson witness eventually placed accused into a taxi and took them to the police station. All the men used obscene language and wilfully damaged the taxi. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said all the accused had Communistic leanings and had been dismissed from unemployment relief works. They had been ejected from the Auckland City Mission's shelter and had also caused trouble to the Salvation Army. Kale had been placed on probation last year in Blenheim, but had failed to report. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, sentenced Kale to' three months' imprisonment on each of two charges, the terms to be cumulative. On the other counts he was convicted and discharged. Collins sad Clarke were also convicted on all < barges and sentenced to three months' imprisonment
