A DICKENS FAIR.
In order to raise funds for a "Charles Dickens Cot" in the children's ward of the Auckland Hospital, the Dickens Fellowship is holding a fair on Wednesday afternoon and evening in the New Zealand Penwomen's clnbrooms. Particulars are advertised. Stallholders will be dressed as Dickens characters and the whole setting of the display of the goods for sale will bo Dickensian. The fair will be opened at 1.30 by the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, and the chairman of the Hospital Board and other prominent citizens will be in attendance. Branches of the fellowship throughout the world take a practical interest in philanthropic work, in keeping with the spirit that, so eminently characterised Charles Dickens. The local branch, year by year, has carried out some special ministry of cheer. This is the first occasion on which it has given an opportunity of participation to the general public, and no doubt there will be eager and generous support. ' . ,
