ROAD RACES IN AUCKLAND.,

The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club conducted a road race over three laps of its course at Te Atatu on Saturday. The distance was 27 i miles and 15 competed. H. O. Brown, riding alone from scratch, conceded starts Up to 11m 30s, the mark from which K. Mashien started. In a fast and willing sprint between Crocker and May the former prevailed by half a wheel. MANUKAU AMATEUR CLUB. Favourable conditions prevailed otf Saturday when the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club decided a junior road race of five miles and a senior event oyer 25 miles. Sixteen competed in the junior event. A, Davies, 4m, was the limit rider, while A. W. D. Robinson and H. V. Gordon occupied the scratch mark. In a close finish between four riders, Oxton won by two lengths. The successful juniors were:—Jj. Oxton (2m). 15m Is, 1; S. J. "Ward (lm 80s), 14m 4Ss, 2; J. R. Hall (lm 30s), 14m 495, 3; J..E. Casey, scr, returned fastest time in 73m 225. AUCKLAND CLUB. The 30-miles road race conducted by the Auckland Cycle Club at Tamaki on Saturday resulted in the lone scratch rider, J. H. Wade, putting up a splendid performance by winning from a field of 17 riders. The event was the annual race for the Clarke Challenge Cup and miniature. Three miles from the finish "Wade was with the leading bunch of five riders and remained with them until the sprint, which he headed to win the event in record time by a length.The result was:—J. H. "Wade (scr), 1; S. Litchfield (3m 30s), 2; K. J. Mathieson (8m 30s), 3; C. "Willcox (5m 455). 4. In registering the time of 92m 30s Wade created ft course record.
