CROATIAN VIOLINIST.
«Q» , f VISIT TO AUCKLAND. The yacht Northern: Light, which' is bringing -Zlatko Balokovic, the noted Slavonic violinist, to Auckland, will arrive to-day,and will berth at Central Wharf at 1 p.m. Balokovic will give his first recital in, the Town Hall to-morrow evening,, further, programmes being- presented on Thursday' and Saturday. Of unusual talent, Balokovic 'early revealed himself as a prodigy, but being a healthy, normal lad interested in grimes .and boyish 'pursuits,- it. was not until, he was 16 that ho, would apply himself to studies. From "then,-ho made, rapid progress at Zagreb iatid Vienna\; Conservatoriums. Balokovic plays' with singular refinement and with yiavarm,-singing tone. A Gu'arnorius and a Stradivariuft are used by him. lie is touring- New Zealand under the aegis of 'Messrs. J, and N. Tait. To morrow's programme has 'been carefully selected and includes Meiidolssohn's "Concerto in "E Minor" and selections from Bach, Brahms, Sarasate and other noted composers.
