HIES. M A. SCOTT. Use death took place yesterday morning, at her residence, Kenny Road, Pi.ern.i3era, of Mrs. Mary Ann Scott, widow"®" the laie Mr. W. B. Scott, at the age of 73 years. Bora at Hock Norton, Oxfordshire, England, the lata 3lrs. Scott aThrived in New Zealand with her parents {the late Mr. and Mrs. C. Salter) in 1858, landing at Lyttelton. She resided at St. Albans, Christchurch, until 1898, when she came north with her husband and family For many years she resided at Opotiiu# coming to Auckland nearly fire years ago and residing here until her death. She is survived by two daughters. Miss M. E. Scott and Mrs. W. "Wright {Auckland.); three sons, Sir. W. J. Scott (Opotiki), and Messrs. C. C, ssxtdl G. E. Scott, of Scott and Scott, Limited {Auckland); and 11 grandchildren. MB. WALTER MACKT.TX. Mr. Walter Macklin, one of Wellington's oldest residents, died recently at his home at Ngaio. The late Mr. Macklin left England 58 years ago in the schooner Salisbury, the 'journey occupying _ eight months, and except for a brief visit to England in 1913, had been- a resident of Wellington ever since. He was in business in the city for over 20 years and was a member of the Terrace Congregational Church for over 50 years. He is survived by a widow and four sons and four daughters—Mr. Walter Mitcklin, of Sataitai. ' Wellington; Mr. David Macklin, of Karen, Wellington; Sir. [EE.GSI DCS OWX COiiaESPONDEXT.] HAMILTON, SundayThe death occurred yesterday of Sir. James Baillie, a well-known chemist of Hamilton, and a former Mayor of Carterton, at the age of 65. Mr. Baillie, who was bora at Wishaw. near Glasgow, came to New Zealand with his parents at the age of 12, the family settling in Wellington. After Ma marriage be started is business as a chemist in Carterton, where be resided for 20 years. He was Mayor for four successive terms, from 13)1, and was also a justice of the peace. Since 1911 he had resided in Hamilton. Mr. Baillie was a member of the New Zealand Pharmacy. Board for two years and was founder of the Hamilton branch of the New Zealand Pharmaceutical Society, the Hamilton Retail Traders' Association and the Claudeiands Bowling Club. He was a prominent Mason- and was a past master of 'the Alexandra Lodge, Hamilton. Mr. Baillie leaves a widow, one son and one daughter. MR R. MACKENZIE. £ 3 v IEEEGHA3?H. —-EEESS ASSOCIATION".
