PLAY AT HAMILTON. MATCH FOR BINNIE CUP. Rugby matches were played in various country centres on Saturday. Results forwarded by IfEttALD correspondents .were as follows: —

Hamilton A match for the Binnie Cup between the Old Boys team, winner of the Hamilton Rugny Union's club championship. and Te Awamutu. tho champion team of Waipa, was played at Rugby Park in fine weather. Tito visitors won by 15 points to G, after a hard pome, in which they held fhe advantage practically throughout. Old Boys were somewhat handicapped by _ the absence of several players in tho Waikat" representative team. Johnston and Holmes scored for the home team. For Te Awamutu tries were scored by Griffs, Lash and Glasson. P. Quinn converted a try and kicked a field goal. A fifth grade game for the championship between High School and Technical School was won by the fonnei team by 5 points to 3. T9 Awamutu. —Rovers defeated a Parnell touring team by 24 points to 8 after an interesting display, in which some pretty lay among the backs was the chief feature. Waipa junior representatives defeated Cambridge by 8 to 3 in the first round of the Waikato junior championship (Clarke Cup) and thus qualify for the final. Waikeria defeated Pirongia by S to 0 in the final for the Bnllistite Cup in a keen content throughout. Hamilton fourth grade team., defeated Waipa third grade by 9 points to 3. Cambridge.—Tho Morrinsville senior team defeated Cambridge by 15 points to 12. tor the winners, Harnett, Campbell and WoodIcy scored tries Ilarnett converting all three. For Cambridge Stacey drop-kicked a goal and R. and D. Wilson scored tries, one being converted by Tapper.

Paeroa, —In the final round of the knockout competition for the Dryedale Cup, the Veterans' team defeated West by 6 to 0. The points were from two penalty goals. This is the second year that the Veterans have won the knock-out competition. Tauranga.—The final of the Jordan Cup competition was played between Tepuna and Athletics, and proved the best _game hero this season. Athletics won by 15 points to .11. Whangarei.—Owing to tho senior representative team playing for the Harding Shield at Kaitaia, only junior fixtures took place at Rugby Park, where there was a good attendance. In the principal match tho Northern Wairoa Junior representatives, 10 (tries by Morgan and Matthews, both converted by Stanaway), defeated Waiotira. 3 (penalty goal by Cwssill). WIN FOR WAIKATO. THAMES VALLEY DEFEATED. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AItOHA, Saturday. The representative Rugby match between Waikato and Thames Valley, played at le Arolia to-day, was witnessed by about 1000 spectators, and was hard and fast throughout. Waikato won by 17 points to 12. The forwards were evenly matched,, but tho Waikato backs were superior in every way to the Thames Valley rearguard. Storey scored for Waikato early in the game, Carlson failing to convert. Hard play followed at mid-field, from which the visitors made several determined efforts to initiate passing movements, but the tackling of the Thames Valley forwards quickly stopped most of Kueh efforts. However, Egan scored the second try for Waikato after a pretty passing bout, in which .Leeson, Fitzgerald and Hook figured. Carlson again failed to convert. G. Goldsbury. the Valley fullback, was injured on the head and had to retire. Cleave coming on as fiveeighths and Madgwick going back to fullback. Thomas secured tho ball from loose play near Waikato's line and dashed over to ncoro near the posts. Walford converted, and at half-lime the ecore was: Waikato, 6; Thames Valley, 6. On resuming Leeson snapped up tho ban and forced his way across to score. Another try by Storey made Waikato's total 12. Thames Valley took play into Waikato's twenty-five, and Cleavo sent a beautiful drop-kick over the.bar. With only 10 minutes to go, Thames Valley great efforts. From a ecrum Moore and Thomas paved the way for Thomas to cross tho line, and the scores wero oven. Jnst on the call of time Storey broke loose and scored by the goalpoata. Carlson had no difficulty in converting, and tho final score was: Waj kalo, 17; Thames Valley, 12. WIN FOR NORTHERN WAIROA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] DARGAVILLE, Saturday. The Northern Wairoa Rugby team played the Bay of Islands representatives to-day and won by 19 points to 6 in a fast game. For Northern Wairoa Cossill, Wilkins, Newlova and Wells scored tries, Nathan converting two and kicking a penalty gcial. For the Bay of Islands Mcßao scored a try and M, Kika kicked a, penalty goal.
