HOSPITAL AT TE PUKE.
EFFORTS TO REDUCE COSTS. [rsoac orn ovrx cosjtekpgsbejt-] TATJ2LOGA, Friday. The T&nranga Hospital Board, at life meeting yesterday, dealt with a lettsr tram Dr. M. H. Watt, Director-General of Health, suggesting that consideration be given to the question, of leasing the Te Pake maternity hospital to a qualified midwife or medical practitioner. The Te Pake 1 ranch of the Farmers* Union v rote urging the board to refrain from any action -which might affect the usefulness of the institution. The Te Pake Town Board protested against closing the maternity hospital. The board decided to defer the question for three months and that efforts be made to effect economies en lines sag- : gested by the matron. It was also agreed that the Te Puke committee confer with the Te Phfea Town Board and tie -Te Puke branch of the Farmers* Union with a. view to effecting economic in. the ran- 1 ning of the hospiiaL -
