BRITISH COMPOSERS.
MENTION IN LECTURE. LETTERS OF THANKS. Two interesting letters have been received by Mr. Walter Impctt from English composers who wore among those dealt with in a lecture, " Half-hours with the British Composers," which was given in Auckland by Mr. Impett recently. The first letter is from Sir Frederick Cowen, who says " It was very good of you to include me among tho British composers you visited when over hero, and I am naturally very pleased "to know that my name and my music are still remembered in New Zealand. This is all the more gratifying when one thinks that music that i§> melodious and understandable is almost out of date at the present moment." Sir Granville Bantock, writing from the University of Birmingham says: " We should be grateful to you for your interest in our effoits to express British thoughts in music, and I can assure you that I for one greatly appreciate all you are doing to ensure an understanding of oar aims and aspirations."
