THE FLIRT.
By RUTHYN.
Sketch. By Maxim; Head, Maungaturoto. She led me through the gully. She lured me through the fern. But when I'd almost caught her, She'd give a sudden turn Then flutter on from bough to bough Her tail spread like a fan, " Squeet squeet " she'd say, Come on, this way And catch me if you can." I ortly Jonged to hold her, And stroke her with rny hand. But though I stalked her gently, She would not understand. But twirled herself this way and that, Her eyes so bright and pert. A fascinating ' dainty thing, But just—a little flirt.
