FREED!
They heard him a-tclling the woods and the valley Of primroses, bluebells, and all that is spring! They caught him, and, caged in a little dark alley, lie beats at the bars with his fluttering icing. They're kind in a way; he Jims groundsel and water, And seed, and they've nailed the cage up in' the sun. Old Gran wipes her eyes, for a long life has taught her, That naught takes its place if one's freedom is done. 'Twas caught but this morning! It's breaking heart grieves her! The donors have clattered away doivn the stair. The cage door is thrown wide, with a song the thrush leaves her, And soars, free and happy, at peace through the air! —From Molly Somerficld, 8, Russell Cres., Elkrslte. (Copied.)
