THRILLS OF THE CLIFFS.
DARING ENGLISH GIRLS. Dare-devil girl holiday-makers are going in for cliff swinging this season at Flamborough. Eager for thrills they are taking lessons in the perilous art of gathering seabirds' eggs down the 300 ft. high cliffs at Speeton and Bempton. Much of the spare time of Mr. Sam Letig, of Bridlington, a veteran eggclimber, is speut in teaching fear-free girls the tricks of the business. Some wear breeches and leggings for the descent to the ledges where the eggs are to be found, but others, with a rope tied round their waists, hang suspended in their summer frocks. They say they enjoy the thrill of it all immensely.
In Mr. Leng's opinion the weaker sexshow far more pluck than men in such circumstances. He ought to know, for he has been collecting eggs in season ever since he was a schoolboy.
