TRAGIC ECHO OF S.O.S.
WIFE OF STOKER DIES. fhere has been a tragic echo to a dramatic 5.0.5., sent thousands of miles across the sea to a British warship, by the death in London of the wife of Stoker Bennett. Mr. Bennett inarmed his childhood's sweetheart in a Devon villago the Christmas before last. Within a month ho sailed in H.M.S. Delhi on a two years' cruise. When the ship was 4000 miles froni home in-South American waters the young bride fell ill, and at -the Middlesex Hospital she lay between life and death. In moments of consciousness she cried for " Will! Will!" The doctors thought that a sight of her husband might work the cure of which they themselves despaired. The Admiralty was approached, and responded bv sending an S.O.S (n the Delhi. Stoker Bennett was released at Bahia in time to board a French liner and race homeward. He arrived last August.
