RATES OF INTEREST.
NEED FOR REDUCTION. VIEW OF POWER BOARD. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.S ELTTTAM, Friday, The Taranaki Electric-Power Board to* day passed the following resolution fill regard to interest rates:— "This board is of the opinion that this internal general economic readjustment which is necessary as a result of the fa]l in the national revenue cannot be acconjr plished without a lowering of interest charges. In this direction a special com* mittee be empowered to interview tfis Public Trustee and the Government Lifp Insurance Office with regard to a reduc* tion in interest rates." The board has on loan from the twji institutions named approximately £460,003 at 6 per cent. ■
