STRENUOUS CLIMB.

TRAMPERS' EXPERIENCE. Bitterly cold weather, thick fog and deep and soft snow were experienced by a party of members of the Wairarapa Tramping Club, which set out from Masterton with the intention of reaching the summit of Mount Holdsworth during the week-end. Owing to the very difficult conditions it was found impossible to reach the objective. Leaving town on Saturday afternoon in delightfully clear weather, the party looked forward to sorno sport in the snow. A stay overnight was made in the Mountain Hut. On Sunday morning the party set out in rain and fog, hoping to reach the top. Conditions were extremely bad 'beyond the bush line, and the soft snow made the travelling very slow. .I hick banks 01 fog enveloped the trampers, and after going some distance it was decided to return to the hut. During the ..descent heavy rain was experienced.
