Mrs. A. M. Hickson of Pongakawa, entertained a few friends to a bridge afternoon at her home in honour of her guest, Mrs. Bostock, of Auckland. Hie bridge rooms looked very attractive with large bowls of jonquils, daffodils and masses of autumn tinted flowers. The cold winter winds were kept out by a huge log fire. The hostess received her guests in a frock of wine red velvet. Mrs. Wilkie won the first prize and received a pewter box; Mrs. Bain won a suede bridge scorer embellished with pewter. A novel set of measuring spoons was awarded to Mrs. D. N. Wilson for the lowest score. The hidden number was won by Mrs. Bostock, who received a rose petal stain cushion.
