LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
DEVONPORT PLAYS PONSONBY A match of more than ordinary interest will be played to-morrow in the Auckland Rugby League's senior competition between Devonport and Ponsonby. Devonport is at present leuding in the _ championship with Marist, and the result is likely to have an important bearing on the final honours. In the first round Devonport was successful after a keen contest by only oue point. Devonport has fallen away in form in recent matches, and Ponsonby, although erratic, has a good chance of turning the tables on this occasion. The match _is being staged aa the principal attraction at Carlaw Park. On the No. 2 ground City will play Newton and an even match should result. Enthusiasts at PapatOetoe will have an opportunity of seeing the Marist team in action ngainst EUerslie. The former should not have much difficulty in winning. Reserve grado matches will. be played as curtain-raisers to the principal fixtures except at Papatootoe. Following are the teams:— DEVONPORT. Senior Grade.—Scott (3), Seagar. Harding, Smith (2),. O'Donnell, Ruby, Masefield, Simpson. Casey, Hawkott. Reserve Grade:—Edwards, Iladonich, Saxon (2), Black, Wright, Smith, Seagar,, Meelian, Morgan, Hurley, Langton, Gyde, McCavthney, York, Tate, Adams, Hunt, Potter, Laing. •
