Somerset v. Lancashire. —Somerset: First innings, 116 (Sibbles four for 26, Hopwood five for 48); second innings, 106 (Sibbles five for 38). In the final round of the annual match for the Longwood Bowl tennis trophy at Brookline, Massachusetts, Ellsworth Vines defeated Doeg, the national champion, 4-6, 6-3, 6—3, 3-6, 6-3.

In the final of the doubles Vines and Keith Gledhill defeated Doeg and W. F. Coen, 3—6, 6—l, 6—3, 6—l. V
