MONEY ON FIXED DEPOSIT.
QUESTION OF A CIRCULAR. ISSUE AT WELLINGTON DENIED. [bjt telegraph.—press association.] WELLINGTON, Saturday. Inquiries were made among banking authorities to-day in reference to the statement made by Mr. R. Semplo (LabourWellington East) in the House of Representatives. Mr. Semple said he had received a circular, purporting to have been issued by a Wellington bank, which urged people to place their money with the bank on fixed deposit, as the bank would not reduce interest rates even if Government, action were taken.
The inquiries showed that no circular of this character had been issued.
