PALESTINE MANDATE.

HIGH. COMMISSIONER RESIGNS SUCCESSOR APPOINTED. (Received July 11, 6.45 p.m.) British Wireless. RUGBY, July 13. The King has accepted the resignation of his position by Lieutenant-Colonel Sir John Robert Chancellor, High Commissioner and Commander-in-Chief in Palestine, and High Commissioner for Transjordan. His Majesty has approved the appointment of Lieutenant-General Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, General Officer commanding the Northern Ireland District, to succeed 'Sir John Chancellor. Sir John Chancellor was appointed to Palestine in 1928. He joined the Engineers in 1890, and saw service in various parts of the world. He was late Governor of Mauritius, Trinidad, and Southern Rhodesia. General Waucjiope, who was born in 1874, was in the Black Watch. He served in South Africa and the Great War, and in 1923 was military member of the overseas settlement delegation to New Zealand and Australia. In 1929 he was appointed to Northern Ireland.
