MOTORIST WITHOUT MONEY.
MAGISTRATE'S ADVICE.
"TAKE A TRAM OR WALK." After a motorist had been fined £2 at North Melbourne recently on a charge of having driven in a. manner dangerous to the public he applied for time in which to pay the fine. Mr. T. D. O'Callaghan, P.M.: Surely, a man who can afford to own and drive a motor-car has £2. Defendant: As a matter of fact I am in financial difficulties. Sir. O'Callaghan: You still have your car ? Defendant: Yes, but I am anxious to dispose of it. Mr. O'Callaghan: A man who is in financial difficulties should not be driving a motor-car. He should either take a tram or walk.
The Bench allowed seven days in which to pay the fine.
