MAGNETIC OBSERVATORY.
CONTROL IN CHRIST CHURCH.

The Prime Minister, Mr. 0. W. Forbes, stated to-day -that arrangements have been made to transfer the control of the magnetic observatory at Christ-church from the Lands and Survey Department to (he Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. The amalgamation is being effected to bring about closer coordination between the observatories in Wellington, Christchurch and Apia,
