RESIGNATION OF VICAR.
CANON NEVILL, OF DUN ED IN. SERVICE AT CATHEDRAL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUXEDIN, Monday. At a meeting of St. Paul's Cathedral congregation this evening Bishop Richards intimated that he had received the resignation of Canon E. R. Nevill from the position of vicar of the cathedral, to take effect at the end of next March. Canon Nevill's health has been far from satisfactory in the last 12 months.
Canon Nevill was born at Nottingham in 1852. and was educated at Otapo Boys' High School, Christ's College, Lancing t ollepo (England) and Oxford University. He. was appointed curate of St. Pancras, London, and later chaplain to the Bishop of St. Albans. He then spent some time in New South Wales, where he held the position of lecturer in history at Sydney University. Returning to England, he held various clerical appointments until lie took up his present position of vicar of the Dunedin Cathedral in 1915. -
