THE KITCHENER STATUE.

Sir, —The few letters appearing in the Herald regarding the above statue, which has stood on its rockwork pedestal for some twelve or more years—costing, I believe. less than £loo—savour rather of jealousy, small-mindedness, or spite. I have noticed that every time there is a proposal for a large or other monument being erected the same sort of propaganda comes jnto view. Is this with a view to diminishing the chances of this particular man, who has been a respected citizen of Auckland for twenty or more years ? I do not think that it causes him sleepless nights; he is always busy, and never interferes with others; but sticks closely to the Golden Rule.
