SPORTS TOURNAMENT.
THAMES AND TAURANGA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J TAURANGA, Saturday. A special train from Thames to-day brought over <IOO excursionists to witness football matches between Thames and Tauranga teams. The senior game was keenly contested and was won by Tauranga by 14 points to 9. Tries for the winners wore registered by A. Tassell, Harawera and J. Rtrinui (2), one being converted by D. Borell. Foi Thames Edwards scored a try and Dufty kicked two penalty goals. The junior game was won by Tuuranga by 9 points to 6. Three school football matches resulted:— First teama, Tauranga. 9, Thames, 3; second teams Thames. 22. Tauranga, 0; primary teams Tauranga. 6, Thames, 0. The basketball matches' between school teams resulted First teams, Thames won by 9 to 7; second teams. Thames won by 12 to 11; primary teams, Thames won by 17 to 0.
